{"id":1975,"date":"2025-10-13T11:04:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T08:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/viltis.lt\/lt\/?page_id=1975"},"modified":"2025-10-13T13:58:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T10:58:14","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/viltis.lt\/lt\/en\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lithuanian Welfare Society for Persons with Intellectual Disability &#8222;Viltis&#8221; is a non-governmental organization established in 1989 to defend and represent the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities, their family members, and closest relatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Our goal<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main goal of the society &#8222;Viltis&#8221; is to ensure the equal and full participation of persons with intellectual disabilities in public life, to represent the interests of these people, their family members, and relatives at all levels, and to defend their civic, social, and human rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We pursue the following specific objectives:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To unite<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> residents of the Republic of Lithuania with intellectual disabilities (children, young people, adults), their families, guardians, relatives, and other persons acting in their interest.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To strive<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the comprehensive integration of persons with intellectual disabilities into public life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To promote<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the ecological, medical, and social prevention of intellectual disability and the earliest possible detection of disorders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To promote<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the development and practical implementation of rehabilitation methods for persons with intellectual disabilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To defend and represent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the social and civic rights, freedoms, and dignity of children, young people, and adults with intellectual disabilities, their family members, and relatives, and to satisfy their social, cultural, and other needs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To create<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> favourable conditions for fulfilling obligations, making choices, and participating in public life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>To ensure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the publicity of the activities of the &#8222;Viltis&#8221; Society.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>About Our Members<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, the\u00a0 society &#8222;Viltis&#8221; connects 44 cities and regions in Lithuania, uniting children, young people, and adults with disabilities, their family members and guardians, and specialists.
